Help for Australia
Our term started with some very sad images of the bushfires in Australia and the children were naturally full of questions about what they had seen. P1/2 learners decided they wanted to help and it was agreed that a Toy Sale would be organised to raise money to help the koalas. Soon the whole school was involved in the organising, with letters and posters being made, toys collected and P6/7 running the sale on the day.
We were delighted to raise £252 which will be sent to Port Macquarie Koala hospital in NSW. The children chose to adopt a koala to receive regular updates.
Our Australian friends of the school, The Chisolm family, were quickly in touch to offer to host Arthur, our school bear, and take him to the hospital to take photos of the work being done there. Please follow his story on Twitter.
